The Lamborghini Jalpa revamped the basic Urraco platform, keeping the Silhouette’s two-seat, targa-roof layout. Originally priced at $60,000 in 1980, one sold at RM Sotheby’s Palm Beach online auction for $99,000. With just 410 made and 100 sent to the U.S., it’s not something you normally see at a Cars and Coffee.
Ford vs Ferrari’s racecar sports hero Carroll Shelby is know for beating the racing establishment with simpler, less expensive and sometimes cruder machinery. He got his racing start driving other peoples’ cars and went on to build a business empire that has continued and grown beyond his death.

Just 485 Maserati Mexico’s made, powered by Maserati’s racecar-derived V8 engine and offered with a choice of five-speed manual or three-speed automatic transmissions. RM Sotheby’s Scottsdale auction is offering one of the earliest Mexicos made, the 13th built. The pre-sale estimate is $125,000-$175,000.
The Aston Martin DBX, the marque’s first SUV, has arrived. It has been billed as “an SUV with the soul of a sports car” by the brand. The car starts at $189,900 and is ready to compete with other luxury brand SUVs.
The Ferrari F430, unveiled at the 2004 Paris Motor Show, is described as the “evolution” of the F360 that preceded it, and debuted the E-Diff for the make. Today, 15 years later, it stands out amongst the three generations of mid-V8 models that it precedes.
RM Sotheby’s will offer the Briggs Cunningham car at its Monterey auction later this month, with a pre-sale estimate of $700,000-$850,000. Cunningham was an American yacht and car racer and all-around wealthy guy, making this car a rare find.
Bugatti designed the single La Voiture Noire to celebrate the marque’s 110-year anniversary. The actual price was about $12.5m, or a bit more than double the price of last year’s Divo.
Since 1950, the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance has been a showcase and competition for the world’s most beautiful automobiles. Entrance is by invitation only, and requires that the car has not been shown at another concours.
