PFS is a proud sponsor of the 2019 Corsa America Rally, the brainchild of our longtime client Thomas Heinrichs, who serves as Corsa’s CEO. It is is one of the largest exotic sports car rally series in the United States, with more than 100 vehicles participating.
1,000 miles over five days, all arranged by friends Rich and Jean Taylor, who started their company, Vintage Rallies, in 1993 with the New England 1000. They host three other events: the South West Passage, Mountain Mille and Texas 1000.
The Mille Miglia is a transcendent and transformative experience. When you are driving down a narrow road on top a ridge in Tuscany, with valleys stretching below on either side and the smell of the farms on the air coming into the car it’s easy to forget city traffic jams and overheating 65 year old cars.
Of the three dozen or so driver’s who will take part in the first Drive Toward a Cure California Adventure, Dick Cupp might be especially enthusiastic. He’s entered his 1960 Porsche 356 Super 90 in the inaugural April 28-30 event.
To do something completely different, after a dozen years rallying around Western Virginia and West Virginia, we moved Mountain Mille 300 miles South. The rally took place just a week after Hurricane Matthew, but the storm affected coastal North Carolina and not the western mountains. Even better, the weather for the rally was perfect.

The Tail of the Dragon isn’t for sight-seeing, its surroundings are heavily wooded and the bends are anything but mild. However, the dynamic series of hairpin turns, dips, and esses are more than enough to keep driver and passenger engaged.
We attracted a spectacular group of rare cars this year, cars that you’d be fortunate to see at an international concours, let alone driving 1100 miles in four days. Among the stand-outs were the 1952 Cunningham C3 Coupe of Chuck Schoendorf & Pat Lee and the 1954 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing of Robert & Beryle Slayden.
The Going-To-The-Sun Road is a 50-mile stretch of alpine pavement that traverses Glacier National Park in Montana. Named after the park’s Going-To-The-Sun Mountain, sections of the road are cut into the mountainsides, featuring tunnels and craggy overhangs.
