All those rumors of a V6-powered Ferrari turned out to be true. The Ferrari 296GTB unveiled on June 25 is a mid-engine model with a new V6, and it’s part of a hybrid electric powertrain that cranks out an astounding 818 horsepower.

The Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance has a new owner. The move follows Hagerty’s purchase of the Concours d’Elegance of America earlier this year, and, the California Mille road tour in 2020 and the Greenwich Concours d’Elegance in 2019.

Getting a 918 Spyder when new was difficult, as just 918 of these hypercars were made. It cost $845,000 before options. Getting one today is not much easier. The RM Sotheby’s Amelia Island auction in late May sold this 2015 model for $1.182m, right around the middle of its of $1m-$1.25m pre-sale estimate.

The excitement around the 2021 Amelia Island Concours d’ Elegance and its two auctions by Bonhams and RM Sotheby’s was like bottled lightning uncorked. The Amelia was about the last major classic automobile event held last year before COVID restrictions. After that, top auction houses scrambled to put online auction platforms into place. Now, those online sales have joined a growing, permanent roster of buying options.

For its 7th edition of The Bonham’s Amelia Island Auction – scheduled this year for Thursday, May 20, Bonhams will lift the gavel on a particularly rich set of offerings, including 83 lots of prime memorabilia and collectibles, 8 vintage carriages, and some 110 collector vehicles from the dawn of motoring to 2019, including vintage vehicles and Classic Era from several noted private collections.
