The Sports Car Vintage Racing Association, well known in the vintage automobile industry, will present The 2015 Coronado Speed Festival the weekend of September 18th. This year’s festival features three days of vintage racing, car shows, a pit crew challenge and military displays staged on the runways of the Coronado North Island Naval Air Station.

Each year a new route covers 1,000 miles of beautiful desert, river valleys and alpine landscape throughout the state of Arizona and beyond. Rally-goers have a deep sense of comradery and each year the community seems to expand and strengthen. The memories and friendships made are a large part of Copperstate’s repeat rally devotees, along with the charities the rally supports.

The Colorado Grand is an annual charity tour for 1960 and earlier sports and race cars of distinction. Every September at the peak of the fall color season, approximately 85 vintage cars are driven in this relaxed, non-competitive event, covering 1,000 miles through the Rockies in five days.

This was a special year for Texas 1000 in many ways. We had wonderful cars, starting with Martin Gruss’s 1933 Alfa Romeo Castagna-bodied 1750 Gran Sport, Miles Collier’s 1953 Cunningham C-3 Coupe, Jim Earsley’s 1953 Jaguar XK-120, George Baron’s 1958 Alfa Giulietta Sprint Veloce and Tem McElroy’s 1963 Porsche 356 Cabriolet.
