R.M. Sotheby’s is back at Monterey 2021. Industry experts hand-picked there top selections, from marques including Jaguar, Shelby, Lamborghini, Jaguar, and Aston Martin.

Pebble Beach Concours

Dating back to 1950, when the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance® and Pebble Beach Road Races were first held, the automotive-related events on the Monterey Peninsula each August have made this gorgeous coastal area the undisputed global epicenter of car culture. This year, live events are back and span Friday, August 6 to Sunday, August 15.

Over the coming months, auction houses are hosting both online and live auctions. This includes Mecum, RM Sotheby’s, Gooding & Company, and Bonhams. The schedule is outlined here, with events in July and August.

The going rate for a Ford GT is about $1.2M-$1.5M, or nearly three times the GT’s original $447,000 MSRP (before options). Barrett-Jackson’s top sale in Scottsdale was $1.485M for a 2017 GT with just 141 miles. A ’17 Ford GT in ’66 Heritage livery was the top sale at Barrett-Jackson’s Las Vegas auction in October 2019. It sold for $1.54M.

The DB AR1 was a well thought-out machine, with big Brembo brakes featuring racing-style grooved discs, and four-piston calipers and the booster from a V12 Vanquish. There’s a limited-slip differential, and unique multi-spoke 19-inch alloy wheels use a revised offset to give a wider track.
