Monterey Car Week is nearly upon us, but you probably made your travel plans a year ago and are packing your bags as you read this post. Many collectors and enthusiasts simply refer to Monterey Car Week as “going to Pebble” for the Pebble Beach Concours d’ Elegance®. Now in its 71st year, “Pebble” is the anchor for a dizzying array of events that represent the automotive spectrum in this idyllic California seaside community.
Monterey Car Week officially starts with the aptly named WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca Car Week Kickoff. Open to the public, the event lines Alvarado Street in Monterey with classic cars for an early evening treat. Even as activities in Monterey are getting started, one has preceded them all. On August 1, the annual Pebble Beach Motoring Classic commenced in Kirkland, Washington, with a parade of great classic cars winding their way down the Pacific Coast and scheduled to arrive in Monterey on August 17.
Something for Everyone
Monterey Car Week now truly offers something for everyone, including numerous events with free admission. And, there’s plenty of action. The Monterey Pre-Reunion, Rolex Motorsports Reunion and Porsche Werks Reunion promise racing thrills with historic racers from around the world.
We’ve assembled a list of auctions, concours and shows and races below. Starting with auctions, note that there’s a new one on the roster, the Monterey Jet Center Auction. This is Broad Arrow Auctions’ first live auction in Monterey and is hosted in conjunction with the new Hagerty’s Motorlux (formerly McCall’s Motorworks Revival). Also note, Russo and Steele auction was cancelled for this year’s event but is scheduled to return in 2023.
