Celebrating “E” with an “F”

If you become one of the 60 people worldwide to own a 2021 Jaguar F-Type Heritage 60 Edition, be prepared to explain the odd choice of “E-Type 60” badging on the car’s tail and door sill plates. This special model, based on the F-Type R with its 575-horsepower supercharged V8 and all-wheel drive, needs no explanation, however. It’ll do 0-60 in 3.5 seconds and can hit a 186-mph top track speed.

The “E-Type 60” badges signify Jaguar’s way of celebrating the 60th anniversary of the E-Type, its seminal sports car that inspired the F-Type more than a half-century later. The new special edition will arrive in time for that milestone in March 2021. The F-Type Heritage 60 Edition, the first special edition from Jaguar’s SV Bespoke division, will be available in both coupe and convertible styles.

Seeing Green

Forget the odd badges, though, and plant your eyes on the paint job. Sherwood Green, which is exclusive to this model, is an original E-type color. This color hasn’t been seen on a new Jaguar since the 1960s. Mark Turner, Commercial Director of Jaguar SV Bespoke, says Sherwood Green looks as if it was designed for the F-Type. Who could argue with that?

Exclusive diamond-turned gloss black 20-inch forged alloy wheels, gloss black and chrome exterior accents and black brake calipers set off the green shade nicely. Next, gaze at the two-tone Caraway and Ebony Windsor leather interior trim with Caraway-edged carpet mats. This is how you do a modern-yet-classic-looking British sports/GT interior. The special trim package also includes lightweight Performance seats with the E-Type 60 logo embossed on the headrests.

Jaguar is non-committal on the number of the 60 F-Type Heritage 60 Editions coming to the U.S.

“Breakdown of sales by market and body style will be determined based on demand,” Jaguar Land Rover North America spokesperson Jeff Jablansky told Premier Financial Services. “The U.S. is an important market for Jaguar, so we’d love to see as many of these special-edition models as possible.”
