The Family Concours
Located at the La Torretta Resort on beautiful Lake Conroe, the Texas Concours d’Elegance subscribes to the ideal of showcasing the world’s finest examples of automotive art and engineering. Besides over 200 classic automobiles lining the manicured fairway of the 18th hole, the concours weekend promises picturesque scenery and fine dining in the welcoming embrace of old-fashioned Texas hospitality.
This year, a special focus on the early offerings of Bentley and vintage examples of the Lincoln marque join the normal array of judging classes. The Fun & Funky class, a perennial crowd-favorite, returns, pitting the likes of BMW Isettas and Volkswagen Things against each other for eclectic honors. Originality and accuracy are the chief standards of judgement for each class of vehicles, with class winners being further judged on their style, design, and elegance to determine a Best in Show winner. The weather in the area has been a bit tumultuous, but rain or shine, the Concours will be held on Sunday, April 24th.
Worldwide Auctioneers in Houston
On the Saturday preceding the judging of these venerable vehicles, the banks of Lake Conroe play will host to Worldwide Auctioneers’ annual Houston Classic auction. The docket contains a slew of vintage exotics from names like Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Porsche as well as plenty of domestic muscle. Notable highlights include a trio of ultra-rare L88 Corvettes, with a combined estimate pushing $5,000,000.
