The Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 will be delivered to customers late this summer, and it appears the raging bull has further embraced the latest performance technologies.
The car’s cutting-edge, carbon-fiber monocoque, when coupled with the aluminum frames, weighs only about 506 pounds. It houses a quickly shifting ISR transmission; a 12-cylinder, 700 horsepower engine; a pushrod suspension; and a top speed of 217 mph, reaching 62 mph in 2.9 seconds. Surprisingly, fuel consumption and CO2 emissions are down by approximately 20 percent (compared with its predecessor), but the maker has managed to give the Aventador an 8 percent increase in power.
Among the Aventador’s compelling features, the ISR (Independent Shifting Rods) transmission is lighter, with smaller dimensions than a conventional manual unit. The Drive Select Mode System enables the driver to choose vehicle characteristics (engine, transmission, differential, steering and dynamic control) from three settings – Strada (road), Sport and Corsa (track) – to suit individual preferences.
Also revised is the Aventador’s pushrod spring and damper suspension. Along with an aluminum double wishbone suspension and a carbon-fiber ceramic brake system, it represents a further aspect of the new flagship’s unique technology concept.
