Welcome to the Palm Beach Cavallino Classic, where everything Ferrari is celebrated voraciously. A few days a year in the usually sleepy enclave, the brand and its loyal followers gather to extoll their icon.
This year’s 5-day event was spectacular. As our hosts, John & Alicia Barnes and the staff worked with pointed diligence to assure Cavallino’s success. The smiling faces were all you needed as an indicator of the event’s success. The Palm Beach weather was a welcome relief for those escaping from the gripping winter up north.
The Breakers Hotel is the regal backdrop to the main show with many other goodies along the way beginning with some high-speed fun at Palm Beach International Raceway. There are lectures, tours, club-meetings, gala’s, the Concorso d’ Eleganza, Mar-a-Lago and trophies, trophies, trophies.
Ferrari’s fabled 275 was the featured marque as it celebrated its 50th birthday. The 275 with its many variations can often be confusing, however the collectors in attendance knew the line inside and out. The examples on display were beyond spectacular.
In the end, the owners and enthusiasts alike enjoyed another great year at Cavallino. The weekend ended with the vintage models climbing into their trailers while their much younger siblings roared down the streets of Palm Beach anxiously awaiting next year’s Cavallino Classic.
